Immersion probes are typically used for semi-automatic or automated inspection systems. Work pieces and the probes are immersed in water, and there is a certain distance between the probes and the detection surface of the work pieces. Since the immersion probes do not directly contact with work pieces, so that they can be used for the inspection of irregular surface, complex geometry surface or rough surface of work pieces.
When the beam axis transmitted by the probe is perpendicular to the detection surface, the longitudinal wave direct beams begin to scan the work pieces.
Adjust the beam axis of the immersion probe to form a certain angle with the detection surface, the beam generates a refraction at the interface between water and the work piece so that to introduce an inclined transverse beam to scan the work piece.
The plexiglass or cured epoxy resin in front of the elements of the immersion probes can be made into a certain arc (spherical or columnar shape) so that to obtain dot focus or line focus immersion probes.

Applications:
“P”for general applications--it is suitable for the test demanding high sensitivity and strong penetration of the instrument.
“C”for piezoelectric composite materials--it wins with its virtue of high sensitivity, high bandwidth, high resolution and high penetration which comtribute to the clear and precise results in testing coarse-grain and high attenuation material.
